How We Source, Review and Correct Our Content

By Tristan

Feral Up articles are written under Tristan's name for NSW landholders managing feral animals. We use primary sources including NSW DPI, Local Land Services, ABARES, the APVMA and NSW legislation, with claims attributed in each article. Where estimates differ, we show each figure and its source. Every article displays its publication date and latest update date. Report errors to [email protected]. We typically respond within 1 to 2 business days.

Where our facts come from

Our articles cover subjects where accuracy matters, including baiting, firearms rules, biosecurity duties and the cost of feral animals. Landholders may act on this information, so an incorrect rule or unsupported figure could send someone in the wrong direction.

We rely on sources that readers can identify and check:

We do not present untraceable figures, product marketing claims or forum and social media posts as established fact. If studies reach different estimates, we do not select only the most dramatic number. We identify each estimate and who produced it because studies may measure different impacts, places or years.

Rules and approved product instructions can change. We follow updates from Local Land Services, NSW DPI and the APVMA, including changes to bait product labels. When we learn of a change, we check it against the primary source, update every affected article and change each article’s updated date.

How often we review articles

Every article shows when it was first published. When an article is revised, it also shows the date of its latest update.

We review every article at least once every 12 months. We also review an article straight away when a reader reports a possible problem or when a rule relied on by the article changes.

Reporting an error

If something looks wrong, email [email protected]. Please include:

We typically respond to all enquiries within 1 to 2 business days. If the report is supported by the source, we correct the article. If we disagree, we explain why. You can also send the details through our contact page.

How corrections are shown

A correction to a fact, figure or rule changes the article’s updated date. We also add a short dated note at the end explaining what changed. Minor spelling or wording fixes do not receive a correction note.
